Aim
The Emergency Medical Technician course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to provide ambulance based emergency care in the areas of emergency, urgent and scheduled care.
Entry Criteria
No prior qualifications are required (medical experience/training up to EMR/FPOS-I standards would be an advantage)
Course Overview
This course provides increased knowledge & skills in the assessment & management of medical & trauma emergencies in the pre-hospital environment. It is suitable for personnel with responsibility for managing pre-hospital trauma patients

Certification
To remain registered and qualified at this grade, attendance at our annual three day recertification course, which includes a CPR/AED update, is required together with evidence of 48 hours of on-going EMS related CPD. AREMT registration can be applied for on completion of the course.
Duration
Students undertake a minimum of 80 hours of supported pre-course study followed by attendance for a further 80 hours/2 weeks of classroom based training consisting of theory and scenario based practical work. The summative assessment takes place once the 160 hours of study has been completed.
