Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced Course

Aim

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician course provides additional knowledge and skills to experienced Emergency Medical Technicians in specific aspects of advanced life support, medical and trauma care.

Entry Criteria

You must be able to show, as a minimum, evidence of training undertaken at EMT or equivalent standard, & held for a minimum of 1 year.

This course provides advanced knowledge & skills in the assessment & management of medical & trauma emergencies in the pre-hospital environment.

Certification

To remain registered and qualified at this grade, attendance at our annual four day annual recertification course, which includes a CPR/AED update, is required together with evidence of at least 36 hours of on-going EMS related CPD. AREMT registration can be applied for on completion of the course.

Duration

Students undertake a minimum of 280 hours of supported pre-course study followed by attendance for a further 120 hours/3 weeks of classroom based training consisting of scenario based practical skills and evaluations.
