Emergency Medical Responder Course

Aim

This accredited five day course enables participants to develop their pre-hospital emergency knowledge and skills.

Entry Criteria

No prior qualifications required (basic medical training would be an advantage).

Course Overview

The course will equip participants to assist people who have sustained an accidental injury or who are suffering from a sudden illness or medical problem. This course specifically meets the needs of medics working with or without the support of onsite ambulance crews.

Certification

Successful participants will gain the Emergency Medical Responder award together with HSE First Aid at Work certification and become eligible to apply for international registration as an Emergency Medical Responder

Duration

The course is delivered via a mix of blended learning activities comprising a period of self-directed, pre-course study followed by a 40 hours/1 week course consisting of theory and scenario based practical work. The summative assessment takes place on day six.
